Lakeland Village Community Clean-up
Nov. 1st
2008
Over 125 volunteers removed over 25
tons of trash from the Santa Margarita Watershed on November
1st, 2008. The Santa Margarita Clean was started in 1994 by
Carole Bell manager of the Santa Rosa Plateau Reserve. This
event is in conjuction with the Lakeland Village Community
Cleanup.

Lakeland Village Community Clean-up

2008
Residents of Lakeland Village
and the Lakeland Village Neighborhood Association, CR&R, Code Enforcement and other County agencies
cleaned up tons of trash in Lakeland Village on November 1st. They brought everything from
jet skis to the kitchen sink to the Lakeland Village Middle
School where CR&R employees helped residents put their
trash in the
dumpsters.

The Meridian includes Tesco corporation with
the largest solar panel roof in North America.
Eliminator Boats just relocated their manufacturing
facility to Mead Valley producing Custom Power Boats and
creating 100 full time jobs.

Santa Ana River Trail Grand Opening Friday,
May 16, 2008
Santa Ana River Trail and Parkway - Hidden Valley and Hole
Lake Segments completion ribbon cutting ceremony took place
at the Hidden Valley Wildlife Area.
This completes two segments of the 100 mile Santa Ana Trail
that will go from the San Bernardino Mountains to the Sea. |

Wildomar Bike Safety Event - Saturday,
May 11, 2008
The First Annual Bike Safety Event was a huge success with
over 70 kids participating. IEHP gave each of these children
a free bike helmet. Learning about bicycle safety was the
main focus of this event. It was the Possehl family
that had the idea to put on this event in honor of their son
Jesse James Possehl who was killed by a hit and run driver.
They are an inspiration to everyone.

On May 10th,
2008 the Community of Mead Valley held their
Community Clean Up Day.
The event took place at the Tomas Rivera School on Martin
Street from 8:00 AM - 12 Noon.
This free event is sponsored by Supervisor Buster and Waste
Management. The Mead Valley MAC and volunteers from
throughout the community made this a successful event.

On May 7th,
2008 Riverside County Supervisor Buster finalized
the land purchase for the Wildomar Regional Sports Park. The
27 acre park is an ideal location next to the Ronald Reagan
Elementary school. This new park is a gift from the County
to the new City of Wildomar allowing the city to work with
the community to design the new park.

On April 10th
Eliminator Boats opened its new facility in the 1st District
bringing quality jobs and sales revenues to Riverside
County. Eliminator is an industry-leading manufacturer of
top-of-the-line boats. The company will build its custom
watercraft at the site using a specially-designed
manufacturing facility. World-famous race car driver Darrell
Waltrip recently piloted an Eliminator boat at the Daytona
500 pre-race. Located north of Perris at Harvill and Citrus
this state of the art facility was needed immediately.
Supervisor Buster put this facility on the fast tract so
that Eliminator Boats would be able to keep up with
production. Eliminator boats was slated to move out of
state, but was motivated to stay in Riverside County. This
location is ideal being next to several large lakes and
freeway view.

Mead Valley Town Hall March 27th, 2008
Supervisor Bob Buster along with top officials from Fire,
Sheriff, Transportation, Planning, The Economic Development
Agency, Code Enforcement, Animal Services and Fred
Workman were the key speakers at the Mead Valley Town Hall
Meeting. Topics included fire prevention, paramedic fire
fighters, free spay and neuter clinics, transportation,
roads, code enforcement, new development and illegal food
vendors.

Annual Egg Hunt March 15, 2008
Wildomar residents celebrated their first annual egg hunt
at the newly reopened Marna O'Brian Park. Supervisor Buster,
the local boy scouts and community leaders made this an
event to remember. Hundreds of children participated in
collecting as many eggs as they could fit into their baskets
and the parents seem to be having as much fun as the kids.

King High
Remembers March 14th, 2008
More than 230 veterans of all US wars going back as far as
WWII gathered on the morning of March 14, 2008, at Martin
Luther King High School in Riverside for the 8th Annual
“King High Remembers” living history lesson and celebration.
Over 1200 people attended, including veterans, students,
parents, community members and teachers.
The event began in 2000 with a handful of vets as a homework
assignment. US History teacher John Corona began “King High
Remembers” when many of his students were unable to locate a
veteran to interview.

Trilogy
Women’s Symposium - March 1, 2008
Provided seniors with information to take better care of
themselves and each other. Some of the issues discussed
include: diet, health and aging, adult protective services,
fraud and identity theft. The keynote speakers were Eileen
Fry-Bowers, Riverside County Commission for Women; Linda
Nichols, American Heart Association; Michele Broad, Women’s
Health Nurse Practitioner; Mary Hrinko, Riverside County
Office on Aging; Margo Hamilton, C.A.R.E (Curtailing Abuse
Related to the Elderly); and Mike Silverman and Michael
Quesneo Office of Riverside County District Attorney. The
speakers provided information booths for the issues
discussed at the symposium. The symposium was free of
charge. |

Woodcrest Library -
October 27, 2007
Designed to blend into the natural landscape of the
community, the new Woodcrest Library is the first LEED
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified
building constructed by Riverside County. “This is truly
something for the community to be proud of”, said First
District Supervisor Bob Buster. “The new Woodcrest Library
is a model of sustainable site development, water savings,
energy efficiency, sustainable materials usage and indoor
environmental quality.

residents to clean up their properties for free. Riverside
County Board of Supervisors and CC&R Rubbish Service

year's event featured performances from the Nightshift and
the Desert Mirage Dancers. Entertainment included bouncers,
Giant Slide, Bungee Run, Obstacle Course, Rock Climbing,
Clowns, Petting Zoo and Carnival Games.

the Mead Valley Community Center on Saturday, September 22,
2007 from 9am-12pm. The fair included booths from dozens of
organizations, with information on programs ranging from
health care, food safety, poison prevention, home safety,
foster parenting, flood control, animal services, pet
adoption and many other great services. |

September 15th, 2007
Perret Park, a beautiful lakeside public park,
reopened on Saturday, September 15, 2007. The beach front
park gives residents of Lakeland Village and surrounding
communities great access to Lake Elsinore. Supervisor Bob
Buster implemented the recent renovation through his plan to
purchase and rehabilitate a number of parks in Riverside
County’s first district. Other parks also renovated
include Marna O’ Brien, Windsong, and Heritage parks. |

Marna O'Brian Park Dedication Ceremony
Wildomar Reopened the Marna O'Brian Park with the park
consists of three baseball fields with spectator and player
benches, a full basketball court, and two large multi-use
soccer fields along with state of the art sports field
lighting. Younger children will enjoy running
throughout the open play area and new tot-lot. Marna
O’Brien Park rehabilitation will also included picnic
shelters, a granite walking trail with a fitness course
station, a new (resurfaced) parking lot, tot lot and a
contemporary restroom/concession stand. |

Movie in the Park - Sycamore Creek in Temescal Valley. The
MARS program shows recent shows at several local parks.
In-n-out burger came to the Sycamore Creek Park and provided
hamburgers and refreshments. Families brought their kids for
an evening of old fashioned fun and games.

Windsong Park Grand Opening Celebration
Windsong Park includes the rehabilitation of the existing
concrete walkway around the perimeter of the park, new
picnic tables with an improved picnic pavilion and a tot lot
for the young children. The existing basketball half-court
will be expanded to an enhanced full court. Windsong
Park includes 2 acres of exceptional open turf landscaping.
